What an Awe-STEM Day!
Yesterday, the year 5 and 6 children were fortunate enough to spend a fascinating day at Wycliffe College learning about STEM.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and maths. Throughout the day, the children attended four workshops, each with a different STEM focus, and they were amazed by a spectacular science show presented by a lecturer from Bristol University. They also had a chance to be up close to some incredible reptiles, as they were entertained by a lecture given by a keeper from a specialst reptile park.
Each group had different experiences in the workshops. Some spent their sessions making polymers (including a rather delightful slime) and toothbrush-head racers. Others created periscopes and learnt card tricks.
The children were incredibly excited by everything they learned and should be able to wow those at home with their amazing new knowledge!
