'Our Day Out' at SWR

The whole of year 5/6 visited SWR yesterday to watch a production called 'Our Day Out'.

It lasted about one hour. The production was about a class of very naughty children who went out for the day (to a sweet shop, the zoo, a castle, to the beach and the fair).

When they went to the sweet shop in a rush, they took the sweets without paying. Then, when they went to the zoo, they tried to take the animals on the coach but they got caught by the zoo keepers. At the castle they split into four groups, each one with a teacher supervising them. However, that didn't last long because everyone ran off.

At the beech everyone enjoyed themselves and had a water fight and deliberately sprayed the audience with water. No one noticed that one of the girls ran off because she didn't want to leave but one of the teachers persuaded her to come back. One of the teachers was very strict at the start but the children changed him so that by the end he was enjoying himself and even took them to the fair.

"It was different to other plays I've ever watched. It was more dramatic and serious but that made it more enjoyable for me!" said Joe Elshaw from Elm class.

The acting was very good, the children took it very seriously. It was great to see so many past St Mary's children involved.
