Villainous Vikings Raid St Mary’s

Incredibly, a hoard of vicious and violent Vikings raided St Mary's Primary School this week.

Okay, so maybe they weren't vicious or violent but they certainly looked like Vikings! This was because the year 5/6 children had dressed up to celebrate the end of their Heroes and Monsters topic. This term we have focussed on the Vikings in Britain and during the morning the children made Viking money pouches so that they could carry all of the riches they found on their 'raid'.

In the afternoon, whilst snacking on 'traditional' Viking sausages in buns, the children gathered around an open fire to tell Viking poetry and outwit each other withVikingsSWH1 Viking riddles which they had created in their English lessons.

Finally, they went on a raid to find the treasure they had come to St Mary's for.

The successful Viking was Scarlet Woodward Hedges who generously shared the spoils of her find with the rest of her 'tribe'.
