School Work Day

A huge thank you to the fantastic group of 26 parents and 19 children who came to help with the work day on Sunday.

From 10-3 we chopped our way through overgrown shrubs, tackled out-of-control brambles, painted chipped skirting, redecorated a whole corridor and sorted out a lot of library books. I think it is fair to say that everyone felt a sense of achievement by the end of the day and it was worth the aching limbs, blistered hands and splitters!

We would especially like to thank

  • Jason Thornbury (Thornbury & Pearce) and Nick Wood (Painting & Decorating) for using their professional expertise and working until 6pm to paint the hall corridor. It was a mess of blutac marks and marked paint but now looks rejuvenated and brilliant white. Nick and Jason kindly donated paint and also arranged for Ryalls Ltd (Priory Industrial Estate) to provide us with some too.
  • Ben King (King's Tree Services) for chipping and taking away much of the garden waste that was produced.
  • Gemma Wood for persuading Barclays to provide us with a grant to help with materials such as weed control matting and painting supplies.

These days make a huge difference to everyone at school and get some of the jobs done where funds do not stretch.  Mrs Woolley and so many staff and parents have commented upon the difference it has made.

The next date will be arranged for the new year. If you are interested in helping on these days, or at another time or have another skill to offer, please let us know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
