Our Uniform

We are extremely proud of our school and our pupils and believe that by wearing school uniform children develop a sense of pride of and belonging to their school, as well as being easily recognisable as St. Mary's pupils. We respectfully ask for the co-operation of parents to ensure that pupils are suitably dressed and thus represent the school and themselves appropriately.

The school specific elements of our uniform can be ordered via the Michael Hope website. To find our school shop please go to 'School Shops' and look for our school logo.

Non-school specific items such as the white shirts, grey trousers, skirts, pinafore dresses, hair accessories, tights etc. can be purchased from a wide range of high street retailers and supermarkets.

Our school uniform is as follows:

Winter Uniformwinter uniform

  • Grey trousers, skirt, shorts or pinafore dress
  • White shirt/blouse (long or short sleeves) (Year 1 to 6 only)
  • School tie (Year 1 to 6 only)
  • Light blue school polo shirt (Reception children only)
  • Navy blue school jumper/cardigan
  • Grey or white socks or grey tights.
  • Black sensible shoes (no boots or trainers)

There is the choice of either a knitted or a sweater style jumper/cardigan.

We encourage children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6) to have a proper tie as they will need to learn to tie them for secondary school. Children in Years 1 and 2 might be happier with the elasticated version.

Summer Uniform

  • Grey trousers, skirt, pinafore dress or shorts
  • Blue and white checked dress
  • Light blue school polo shirt
  • Navy blue school jumper/cardigan
  • Grey/white socks
  • Black sensible shoes/sandals.

Bags

Children in Reception (EYFS) and KS1 need a St Mary's bookbag which is available on the Michael Hope website.

From Year 3 upwards children can bring a backpack to school. These can be purchased from a range of highstreet shops or a logo'd one can be purchased from Michael Hope.

All children should bring their PE kit into school in a drawstring bag.  Again these are available via Michael Hope or from sports shops.

Wellies

We are lucky to have a large school field and Forest School and we believe in outdoor play and learning all year round, whatever the weather.  Therefore, all children should have a pair of wellies (labelled) to leave in school.

Labelling Clothes

Please make sure all clothes are labelled as this will help us return any lost clothing as quickly as possible.

Stamptastic provide personalised stamps made in the UK which can be used on fabric, metal, wood and some plastics. An alternative to name labels, they ink lasts up to 50 washes on most fabrics. They do a range of others products too. For every order made, the school will get 30% cash back. Please use the code GL88BW at checkout.  http://www.stamptastic.co.uk/

Hair

We ask that children with longer hairstyles (below shoulder length) should tie their hair back neatly using school coloured hairbands and clips. This keeps their hair out of their eyes when working and playing and prevents the spread of head lice. Thank you.

2nd-hand Uniform

2nd hand uniform is available to purchase from the School Office for a small donation.  We usually have a range of school jumpers, grey trousers and skirts, white shirts and school ties.
