More Fun at Morfa

Last Friday our Year 6 children, along with Mrs Cartledge, Mrs Lee and Mr Welch, returned from Morfa Bay after an incredible week of fun-filled adventurous outdoor pursuits. Whilst there were some exhausted and bedraggled faces (and that was just the adults!), there was no denying that everybody had had an amazing week which will live long in the memory.

South-west Wales was flooded with glorious sunshine throughout the week, so the children were surprised to be using their sun cream rather than their waterproofs! In three different groups, the children willingly (in most cases!) participated in activities which pushed them to their very limits and took some of them far outside of their comfort zones.

They scaled the climbing wall, plummeted down the zip-line, abseiled from a great height, skilfully morfaabs14mountain-biked their way around a hazardous track and got freezing and soaking whilst scrambling their way up a stream through some beautiful Pembrokeshire woodland.

Not wanting to sit still at all, they worked as three well-oiled teams to complete a not-so-muddy assault course, set their sights on the golden bull's-eye in archery and created waves whilst enjoying games and body-boarding in the sea at Pendine Sands.

If you think that's it then you are mistaken, as we were able to squeeze more activities into our evenings. We hiked around the headland at Pendine and spent a beautiful September's evening on the beach watching the sun set.

To relax after some thoroughly exhausting days, the children put on their PJs (and an alarming number of onesies) and grabbed their sleeping bags and pillows before settling down to watch a film together on Wednesday evening. Before leaving on Friday, the children displayed some incredible (and some frankly bizarre) dance moves at the disco on Thursday night.

The children were an absolute credit to St Mary's through their behaviour and attitudes. It was a pleasure to spend such a brilliant week with such fantastic children!

Mrs Lee is creating a photographic display of the week.  Please come and take a look when you come in for Grab a Grown-up on Thursday morning.
